Bosco

Overcome your worries and take the first step to start a business

When Bosco told his friends that he wanted to start his own business, everyone wondered why he would give up a job at a foreign bank with a stable income and good benefits. Bosco said he was overloaded, often working overtime in the bank, and his spare time was taken up by unexpected work. For many times, plans for a friend’s party had to be put off because of busy work. When work made it difficult to organise his daily routine, Bosco felt it was time to find a way to reorganise his life and his ideal daily routine. Then the idea of starting a business arose spontaneously.

Since Bosco has been providing typesetting and design services to different financial institutions and banks for many years after graduation, he is well aware of the special needs of the industry for typesetting services. These financial institutions and banks are very concerned about a professional and reliable corporate image, which is shaped by TV or magazine advertisements, and more often, is built up in the minds of their clients through the accumulation of reports and quarterly reports. Therefore, they attach great importance to the quality of typography and design. However, there are only a few companies in the market specialising in layout and design services for the industry, and these financial institutions do not have many channels to find suitable companies. Therefore, Bosco took this opportunity, coupled with their accumulated experience and contacts in the industry, and specific plans for starting a business gradually took shape.

Venture capital is usually a big consideration when it comes to taking the first step in starting a business. For Bosco to build his business, the business connections are most important. “At the beginning, I had no intention of hiring anyone, and I was the one handling all the company’s business on my own. Except for client meeting, basically I could work at home to complete the work of the customer, so even the rent could also be saved. Therefore, excluding the unavoidable company registration fees and other miscellaneous cost at the establishment of companies, the cost of my start-up is not too great. In the early stage when the business income was unstable, having enough savings to meet a living was still very important. ”

Since the original intention of starting a business, Bosco not only aims at making money, but he also wants to get back the control of his own lives. Has this intention been achieved? “That’s for sure. Now I can arrange when I want to work and when I want to rest. I don’t have to think twice before I dare to say yes to a friend’s invitation to a party. When the weather is good, I can go on an excursion with my retired parents, something I have never imagined before.” Of course, a coin has two sides. You have more room to manage your own time. But when you start your business, you can’t help thinking about the business development of the company. Sometimes, while you are outside breathing in fresh air, Bosco is still thinking about his company’s future development.

People with start-ups sometimes question their decision to start a business because of the volatility of their initial monthly earnings. According to Bosco, the most challenging and important thing to do is to adjust the mindset. He added that no matter of any business difficulties, to find ways to deal with them requires a positive and optimistic attitude. And Bosco is also very grateful to unconditional support and encouragement from his wife and family when he is under great pressure. This is undoubtedly the greatest driving force for his persistence.

As for future business plans, Bosco admits that it is still in its infancy, and that he will now spend more time on promoting the business, thereby widening the customer base. As the size of the company is gradually expanding, he can increase the number of staff to assist in handling his company’s business.
